Roxxmetics Turns ONE!

Recently I was invited to Roxxmetics Anniversary party. If you have been following this blog or my instagram you’ll be familiar with this cosmetic brand. So let’s talk about the party. It’s my first time meeting Rox, the founder of Roxxmetics. She’s very very friendly! Mind you I don’t really know much about the beauty community in Singapore. The last time I connect with any beauty community was in LA. It’s definitely a new environment for me. Rox made sure I didn’t feel out of place. The rest of the guest arrived and I was introduced to the ladies and most of them are makeup artist.

It’s a bit awkward for me because I really don’t know anybody there but I quickly connected with the ladies. They’re all very friendly and of course we just have to take a bunch of selfies! I love how everyone just connected and there’s no judgement at all! You know what I’m obsessed with at the party? The brownie. OMG the brownie was soooo good! It’s so rich but not too sweet. Go check them out on IG here.

I appreciate the fact Rox invited me despite me being just a… nobody. Lol. I’m all about supporting local business/brands. I try my best to include as many local business/brand in most of my article. Roxxmetics drop their new lash and lipstick collection in commemoration of the their first anniversary.

how cute is the cupcake?!

I was given a bunch of goodie bags containing awesome stuff including;  a pair of lashes and one shade of lipstick from the new collection. I’ve tried on the lashes and I absolutely loveee it! It’s light and you know I love a thin band. Best part is that it’s vegan & cruelty free! The style I’m wearing is ‘Arista’. I have yet to try the lipstick (shade Ritzy)  but if you follow me on instagram I’ll probably create a look using the lipstick. So…. FOLLOW ME! You can get yours at www.roxxmetics.com

Here are the things I got in the goodie bag:

  1. Roxxmetics – Lashes (Arista) & Lipstick (RItzy)
  2. Colours Of Threads – Earring
  3. Elusyf Global – Cell Activa Phyto Mask
  4. Avanna Beautique – Cuticle Oil
  5. Le Belle Beaute – Misty Spritzy (Rose)
  6. Makeup Budget – Brush Cleansing Spray
  7. Indie Herbals – Travel Kit
  8. Thulz Photography – Voucher
  9. Opium by Bubbly J – Voucher
  10. Kalz Studioz – Voucher

Thank you once again to Rox for the invite and for recognizing the small start up and giving us the opportunity to network. I wish Roxxmetics all the success! I hope the beauty  community will have a lot more opportunity to get together. Till next time my beauties!

“ROXXMETICS believes in helping  everyone grow and reach their full potential, and the only way to do that is by supporting one another.” – Rox

Nygmarose top 5 makeup stash

Makeup lover like myself have massive makeup collections. I am running out of space in my beauty box and sometimes I come across new palette that I’d forgotten I had all this while. All this makeup and I will still buy more. I mean… There’s no such thing as too much makeup. If you’re a makeup artist like me, you definitely have to stock up your makeup. I was looking around my beauty box and I realise I have a few products that I will instantly gravitate to. I want to share my top favourite makeup products with you.

1.) Eyeshadow

IG: @nygmarose

When I’m in a hurry or I have to pack just one palette for traveling, my go to is Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette. I can create a simple neutral look and I can switch it up to a more dramatic look too. On my lazy days I will use the shade coco on my lid and take a blending brush to blend it upwards to my crease. On my not so lazy day, I like to use the shade maneater on my crease add coco to the outer corner and blessed on my lid. I’m not a big fan of the textured eyeshadow but I do use them on my lid when I do a black smokey eye so the colour would pop. Unfortunately Huda discontinued this palette when she came up with desert dusk palette.

2.) Primer

source: sephora.com

I see this product everywhere on Instagram. My first thought was that ahhh just another hype online and probably isn’t that good. I was sceptical. It was pricey too! Sephora Singapore recently bring in the Farsali Rose Gold elixir and Unicorn essence. I went to the store to try it out and end up getting the unicorn essence. I have an oily skin….and also the fact I just want to be fancy having unicorn stuff on my face. OMG girlfriends….. This product is legit. I love the smell, I love how it feels on my skin and I love how my makeup look after using this primer. Best thing is that this is water-based so it helps with my oily skin and it is also free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. YAY! Get it here.

3.) Foundation

IG: @nygmarose

Fenty Beauty. Where do I even begin. Rihanna slay at everything. She’s the ultimate boss babe. Ever since I tried Fenty foundation, I never want any other foundation. It is so light and it stays matte on my oily skin. I don’t need much because the coverage is amazing. You have 40 shades to choose from and I am in the shade 310.  I am looking forward to more Fenty products because girl.. I need to get the whole collection! To be honest I love all of Fenty Beauty base products. It’s my go to for a flawless snatched base! Get it here.

4.) Concealer

I love a good concealer because I have acne scars and hyperpigmentation to cover. My all time favourite concealer is by Roxxmetics. Roxxmetics is a Singapore brand and I come across this brand when I participated in an instagram contest. They sent me the full cover concealer as one of the prize. This product is so amazing. Just a little bit of concealer was able to cover the hyperpigmentation around my mouth area. I use the shade medium. Get it here.

5.) Lashes

IG: @nygmarose

My go to dramatic vavavoom lashes would be Carmen by Huda Beauty. I love my lashes long and thick. 😉 Of course some days I like a pair of nice wispies but if you know me, I go big. Carmen just frame my eyes nicely. I put Carmen on whenever I do a dramatic bold eye look. Be it a cut crease or nice smokey eye. Sadly you can’t get huda lashes in Singapore so you have to buy it from their website which can cost a lot with shipping. Get it here.

There you go girlfriends! That’s my top 5 makeup products. Share with me your top 5. Follow me on instagram or twitter for more beauty updates and my secret project 😉 Until next time!

Can Can’s Handmade Liquid Lipstick – Review

Hello lovelies!

Here I am again with another review for you. I recently took part in a makeup challenge on Instagram and the theme was “Unicorn Frappbabe” inspired by the famous Unicorn Frappucino. It was a collaboration between Roxxmetics, Can Can’s Handmade, Raggysha and Teal & Gold Co. They pick 3 winners and I was lucky enough to be one of the winner. Here is my submission for the challenge:

IG: @nygmarose

I didn’t know much about Can Can’s handmade so I decided to look them up. They are Malaysia based cosmetics company and they specialises in makeup for middle to deeper skin tone. I find it amazing as there are not many brands out there that caters to the deeper skin tone. I know I have a difficult time trying to find the right foundation shade or lipstick shade. Sometimes it would look good on the website and when I order it, it just didn’t look good against my skin tone. For now Can Can’s handmade only have 2 shades of liquid lipstick on their website. I hope they will come up with more products in the future.

Can Can’s send me their liquid lipstick in the shade Muse. The packaging look sophisticated with just simple gold logo and lettering on a black box. On their website it stated that it is Cruelty Free, uses natural ingredients, doesn’t contain parabens, SLS, silica and mineral oils.

IG: @nygmarose

The formula isn’t too thick. One swatch and it was very pigmented. I absolutely love the colour. I waited for it to dry down and it wasn’t very drying like some matte liquid lipsticks. I also have to give credit to Raggysha’s chocolate lip scrub that made my lips smooth and making the application of the lipstick easier.

IG: @nygmarose

The liquid lipstick is selling for $59.00RM. You can get yours from their website here. I would rate this liquid lipsticks 8/10. Really hoping they would come up with more shades.

Follow me on instagram for more update and also you can leave a comment if you want me to try any new product. Until next time beauties!

Peace & Love,

Nygmarose

Countdown 2017: Top 5 makeup challenges in 2016

1.) Full face using only highlighters challenge

Youtube: Mariya

2016 is the year of glow. I mean everyone is practically obsessed with everything shiny and shimmering. This challenge originally started from makeup artist name Mariya. She totally nail the look. So it went viral on every social media platform and beauty gurus start participating in this challenge. Some did a flawless job and some…. ehhhh.. not so much but good effort nonetheless. I personally would look like a greasy fried chicken if I take on this challenge so… uhmm.. Epic fail. Here are some of the beauty gurus who I think did a phenomenal job on this challenge: Nikkie Tutorials, Jeffree Star and Farah Dhukai.

2.) Full face using only glitter challenge

instagram: @katieelizabethbutt

Yet another challenge where we shine all the way to outer space. Aliens must think we have a lot of stars here on earth. Don’t invade us! Katie is a makeup artist who post most of her makeup tutorials on instagram. I remember she was all over instagram with her face full of glitter tutorials (you can check it out here). I think she look very sci-fi futuristic princess from outer space. Maybe this could be 2020 makeup look? You know after makeup brand can produce a glitter makeup that won’t be a pain in the butt to remove. I’m not a big fan of glitter. The thought of glitter getting into my eye gives me anxiety. I don’t see a lot of beauty gurus doing this challenge. I’m guessing they feel the same way about glitters or probably I’m just not aware. Some of the beauty gurus who took on this challenge are Nikkie Tutorials, Mykie (Glam&Gore) and BeautybyJosiek.

3.) Full face using liquid lipsticks challenge

Youtube: Jeffree Star

This challenge was started by Amy Macedo. This had me cracking up coz it was so hard to work with liquid lipsticks! If you have use liquid lipstick before you know it can be a bit drying. I could imagine the face feeling like a sahara desert. Oh and the pores tho. Jeffree star and Manny’s video was hilarious. I think Nikkie Tutorials and Evelina Forsell did a good job on this one. Check out their videos!

4.) Full face using kids makeup.

youtube: dope2111

Now this challenge is very interesting. It was created by Makeupbypita. Why do I say interesting? When did kids wear makeup?! When I was growing up, my mum would get me the princess set and the makeup that comes along with it, is not real makeup. It’s just plastic. Hard plastic!! It’s fake. Just to make kids feel fancy. So I was definitely shocked that there’s a bunch of kids makeup on the market today. I don’t particularly want to see my 3-year-old daughter beating her face. It’s scary ok! Imagine waking up to a little girl looking like bride of chucky. Girl… The only makeup I got when I was 9 is a lip gloss. The cheap 1 dollar lip gloss that has fruity flavours. I should try looking for kids makeup in Singapore. hmmm.. Well that aside here are some of the beauty gurus who took part in this challenge: Promise Phan, Christen Dominique and Nicole Skyes.

5.) How I did my makeup in high school challenge

Youtube: Jaclyn Hill

I’m not so sure who came up with this challenge but.. genius. What a way to take a trip down memory lane and look back at our terrible make up job. I must say, my makeup in high school was pretty simple. My makeup bag was just a small pouch. These days, my makeup require a big makeup bag. I think it’s time to upgrade my makeup case because the one I’m using now can’t fit all of my makeup. HELP! I remember in high school I would line my eyes with pencil liner and make it so thick. I was so proud of myself. Who else use their fingers for everything? Just me? Come on. I know we did that hence the break out on my face. Foundation? Oh it was definitely too light for me but I was trying to achieve the vampy look with the pale skin. I’m so goth -.- Mind you I’m not even fair skin so you can imagine how ridiculous I look. Share what are some of the makeup mistake you did in high school. Now let’s check out the people who took part in this challenge: Jaclyn Hill, Tana Mongeau, and Grav3yardgirl.

Which of these challenges are your favourite? Share with us.
