“You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it.”

Hair can make you look and feel like a totally new person. I have been experimenting with different hairstyles for the longest time. Short hair, long, straight, curly, bob cut, kinky curl, dyeing different hair colours, you name it, I probably have done it. The only problem with doing all those things to your hair is you’ll end up damaging it if you’re not careful. I have had my hair fried and become so brittle after a bad rebonding and bleaching. It was a nightmare for me.

I have always loved hair extensions. I started playing around with hair extensions when I was 17. I remember having short hair at that time and I thought my hair took too long to grow so I got my first set of hair extensions. It was cheap and I look very funny.

I want to share something pretty personal with you my beauties. At the age of 23 I started to realise I’m losing a bunch of hair on a daily basis. I have some medical problem that cause me to shed a lot of hair. I have very low iron and my blood was low too. I’ve tried everything but nothing work. I was diagnosed with cancer recently. One of the side effect of my medication is hair loss. My hair continue to shed and the thinning was so bad that I could easily see my scalp. For a woman it hit me pretty hard. I decided to chop my hair super short.

I decided to give wig a go. At this time hair extensions isn’t going to help with my visible scalp situation. My first try with a wig was scary. I have no clue how to put it on. I spend hours watching youtube videos and I was so anxious going out thinking everyone was going to judge me. To my surprise people actually can’t tell that I got a wig on. I’m thinking now why isn’t wig normalise here in Singapore? I know my friends in the states rocking their wig all day everyday. I think wig is cool. You can change up your look without damaging your hair. You’ll never get bored of the same hairstyle and hair colour! I get to live my dream of having blonde hair!

I prefer lace front wig because it look more natural. Beginners wig wearer always go for wig with bangs. It’s the safest choice. I’m not going to go into detail on different type of wigs. That’s a whole other article by itself. I’m not a wig expert. I still have trouble putting on my wig.

I’m here today not to share my sad story but trying to share awesome wigs and hair extensions you can get here in Singapore! You know I’m always about supporting the local business. I don’t have a long list but I will definitely update this list when I find more.

New Hype: Bybi Beauty

I was walking through Sephora aisle just looking at all the makeup wishing I could get every single thing the store got to offer. Something in the corner caught my eye. Bybi beauty. The cute packaging got me reaching for it and decided to check it out. I’m not an expert on skincare and my skincare routine is rather pathetic. I decided to put it on my basket because compared to other skincare available in Sephora, this one didn’t hurt my wallet as much. Plus I want to feel like a responsible adult caring about my skin.

I bought two of the facial oil. Strawberry booster and Bakuchiol booster. I didn’t expect much from it. When I got home I decided to do some research on the brand and also trying to figure out what on earth is Bakuchiol. I bought this product with zero knowledge on how the product is gonna benefit me or anything about the company.

The Company

I went to their website and I get so excited reading about the company. I love a company that cares about the environment. I love supporting company that want to make positive impact on the world. Their ingredients are 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free. They don’t do testing on animals and also they don’t sell their products into countries that require animal testing.

Eco Friendly

They try to be as eco-friendly as possible. For example, they use sugarcane derived bioplastic tubes that is recyclable. They use glass bottle and also print on the glass rather than labels hence it’s easier for you to recycle. I found out that the strawberry booster that I have is made from cold pressed seeds that are waste product from the juicing industry. How cool is that?! I am officially a big fan of this brand.

What on earth is Bakuchiol?

When I was looking for Bakuchiol, I kept coming across Retinol. Now I wonder what on earth is retinol. Oh yea my knowledge on skincare is close to zero. Apparently retinol is one of those premium ingredient you’ll find in skincare as it is known to smooth out fine lines, wrinkles and also help to reduce acne scarring/spots. During my research I found out that some people can get skin irritation and sensitivity to the sun from it. Now, Bakuchiol here is like the natural alternative. Study shows that bakuchiol stimulate collagen production, strengthened the skin’s foundation, and minimized the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, without the risk of irritation. Smoother nicer looking skin?! Sign me up!

My Result

I’ve been using the two oil for over a month now and I can safely say I will definitely be stocking up more!! I am obsessed! I used to hate oil on my face because I’m naturally very very oily and greasy. I always get clogged pores and acne. However, for the past month of using this two oil, I notice the changes in my skin. I use the Bakuchiol booster at night and the strawberry booster during the day. The biggest different I saw was that my skin isn’t as oily no more and I haven’t had any acne! My skin is ridiculously smooth. I wanna touch my face all day but I know I can’t. No really stop touching your face! Makeup application is way easier now. My T-zone isn’t super oily anymore. I highly recommend this oil. You should totally check it out. You can get them at sephora website or on bybi website. I’ve linked them both so you can quickly get it now.

Let me know if you tried them I wanna know what you think. Follow me on all my socials (Twitter, Instagram). Until next time beauties.

How to stop your makeup from creasing in this hot and humid weather.

Picture this, your face is beat to perfection, wing liner looking sharp it could cut your enemy. You step out of your house and the sun hit you from every angle and sweat drips down your face. You take a tissue to dab away your sweat and in the process it took away part of your makeup with it. The nightmare!

The weather in Singapore will just keep getting hotter and our makeup will need a lot more to last throughout this heat. I’m so sick of having my makeup melt off of my face. Especially around my eyes and nose area. It’ll either crease or parts of it will end up on my tissue. At the end of the day I’ll appear blotchy and patchy.

I have found a technique to lay down my base so it doesn’t melt off of my face and I’m gonna share it with you. So get your notebook and let’s combat this melting makeup situation.

Step 1: Skincare first. Always prep your skin before you place any makeup product. Moisturise your face and put eye cream and lip balm to prepare your skin. Let the skincare sit and get into your skin before the next step.

Step 2: Primer! I know some people skip primer but I prefer to put my primer on. I have a new favourite primer. I think people are sleeping on it but it’s so good! It’s the Pixi Rose Flash Balm. The trick with this product is to dab it on rather than spreading it all over your face. I use just a little bit of the product not even a dime size and dab it all over my face with my fingers.

Step 3: Set it. I know you must think I’m crazy. You haven’t even put your foundation on! I know!!! Trust me on this. It’ll help your foundation from creasing and rubbing off later. Use a big fluffy powder brush to dust the translucent/setting powder all over your face. You can also use the powder puff which I personally prefer. You don’t need to use too much of the powder as we’re not doing baking here. Calm down, Stacey.

Step 4: Cream product. Now we’re finally ready to lay down our foundation. This step consist of all your cream product. Foundation, concealer, cream contour etc. I personally use a brush to apply my foundation. I like the airbrush finish I get with brush and it’s way faster. I like a fuss free makeup application. My favourite brush is the Real Techniques expert face brush.

Step 5: Set it again! Yes you heard it. Now you just have to set it again. Same thing I use the powder puff to set my powder all over my face. I usually do a little bit of baking under my eye because that’s the area I tend to cease a lot. I don’t know why but my under eye produces lots and lots of sweat. I don’t go too crazy with the baking. You want to use just a little bit of your translucent/setting powder. I bake it for 5 minutes before dusting it off. After this whole step is done I can move on to slaying the rest of my makeup. You can finish off your makeup with setting spray for additional protection. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don’t. To be honest my makeup stays on even without it.

That’s my tips for sweat proof and crease proof base. I will keep trying on new technique and I’ll definitely share with you if I found something new to keep our makeup lasting longer and looking fresh all day. Do let me know if you’ve tried these and if it works for you. Follow me on all my socials (Twitter, Instagram) for more updates and everything makeup. Until next time beauties!
